Doug Ericksen has stood by the people of Washington state and the 42nd District for many years, particularly when it comes to our roads and highways. Sen. Ericksen does all he can to ensure your gas tax dollars are used for road improvements and not diverted to Olympia bureaucrats.
Sen. Ericksen has a record of supporting the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board, the very small state agency (11 employees) that distributes 3-cents-per-gallon of your gas tax back into local projects performed by our cities and towns. The board makes certain the money you pay at the pump is put back into pavement, sidewalks, streetlights and construction jobs in Bellingham, Ferndale, Blaine, Lynden, Everson, Nooksack and Sumas. The board does this with an administrative “overhead” cost of around 1 percent.
In contrast, the Washington State Department of Transportation – overseeing our state highways – operates with a 14 percent administrative overhead. Sen, Ericksen appropriately continues to scrutinize and challenge WSDOT to do better with our tax dollars, and now Sen. Ericksen is sponsoring a highway construction tax credit that will enable road projects to cost us – all of us – less.
Doug Ericksen has the experience to get more efficiency and better performance from state government. Let’s continue to support Ericksen as our 42nd District State Senator.
