Interested in writing a column for The Olympian?

Are you an aspiring writer with something to say about the South Sound community?

The Olympian’s 2013 Board of Contributors is nearing the end of its 12-month term. That means we are looking for a handful of local writers to form the 2014 board, taking turns writing a weekly column.

Each contributor will write eight to 10 columns during the year.

Next year’s writers will form the 11th Board of Contributors since its launch in 2004. By offering space to local writers, we create a place where fresh South Sound voices can add to the community conversation.

We are seeking people who have opinions and won’t be shy about sharing them with more than 200,000 readers in print and online. Your words and ideas will reach in excess of 60 percent of Thurston County residents.

Here’s how to apply: Send us a cover letter telling us about yourself and why you want to write a newspaper column. Provide two fresh writing samples of 650-750 words.

Email your letter and samples to: Board of Contributors at letters@theolympian.com. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 13.
