Temperatures have started their August decline, telling us that the height of summer has passed and autumn is just around the Labor Day corner. Parents are browsing stores for school supplies. Teachers are thinking about new lesson plans.
Late August is a transition time. It’s still warm enough to wear shorts and enjoy grilling up some burgers in the backyard. But we know from the temperature drop, and that ever-so-slight hint of coolness in the evening air, that summer is slipping away.
Still, we can count on sunny days for another month or so. The rain won’t start in earnest until October. So enjoy these last few warm weekends of summer.
