Where’s the beef? It’s in a test tube!

First we had pink slime. You remember, the beef industry’s answer for consumer’s demand for lean, safe meat. It was simply real ground beef injected with ammonia to kill the bugs and then heated to melt away the fat. Now we have test tube beef. Scientists have grown hamburger from cattle stem cells, and they promote it as an affordable means of feeding the world’s hungry and battling back climate change. What do you think? Would you eat a “cultured beef burger?” Send your comments to letters@theolympian.com. Usual rules apply.
