State needs volunteers to rank grant proposals for athletic fields

The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office is looking for volunteers to help decide which ball fields and outdoor sport facilities should receive state funding.

Volunteers will serve on the Youth Athletic Facilities Advisory Committee, which reviews and ranks applications for state grants to renovate and improve athletic facilities, according to a news release.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a broad range of sports, as well as athletic facility programming, design or management.

Volunteers will score the written grant proposals online in September. Grants will be awarded by the Recreation and Conservation Funding Board at its November meeting in Olympia.

Applicants can submit an online application and supporting materials by June 15.
