Sumner police cordoned off an automotive shop on Main Street East on Friday to investigate a possible methamphetamine lab.
Police searched the business in the 15500 block of Main Street East and confirmed that a drug lab was inside. Officers also arrested three people.
A patrol officer saw suspicious activity at the business about 3 a.m., city spokeswoman Carmen Palmer said. He also smelled ammonia and saw plastic tubing, which are consistent with making meth, she said.
One of the men arrested apparently worked in the shop, Palmer said, adding that the shop’s owners knew nothing about what was going on in the shop at night and were cooperating with police.

The Pierce County Clandestine Laboratory Team, which handles meth labs, was called in to break down the lab, Palmer said.
