Advocates for national health care reform will gather for a rally today at First United Methodist Church and People’s Park in Tacoma beginning at 9 a.m.
Speakers will include U.S. Rep. Adam Smith, state Reps. Dawn Morrell and Tami Green, and Tacoma Councilwoman Marilyn Strickland. Mayor Bill Baarsma will be the master of ceremonies.
The event is sponsored by the MICAH Project, Community Health Care for All, America in Solidarity, and Fellowship of Reconciliation.
Sponsors ask that attendees gather at the church at 621 Tacoma Ave. S. There will be a march to People’s Park beginning at 9:35 a.m. In addition to the speakers, musician Robert Wickline and word poet Zack Green will perform at the park.
