Scientist will discuss Bellingham Bay marine life woes

A Washington Department of Ecology biologist will discuss her research on the decline of Bellingham Bay marine life at a lecture scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at the Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave.

The presentation by Valerie Partridge has been arranged by RE Sources for Sustainable Communities. Partridge is the lead author of the recently released report, “Sediment Quality in Bellingham Bay, 2010.”

Partridge's research team has conducted sediment testing from a variety of bay locations over several years. Here is a link to Ecology's report on her research.

At the May 7 event, Partridge will review  possible causes for the decline of marine life health. In the past, Partridge has been cautious about jumping to conclusions about the test results.
