A South Carolina teenager was arrested Sunday on multiple sex crime charges involving a 3-year-old girl, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office reported.
That included taking photos of the nude child and uploading them to a website used by pedophiles, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
A person babysitting the minor had fallen asleep for 15-20 minutes and woke to catch Kyle Michael Teran taking pictures of the child, sheriff’s deputies said in an incident report.
Deputies said the babysitter confronted the 17-year-old before reporting the incident to the babysitter’s father, who yelled at the teen and confiscated his cellphone, according to the incident report. The babysitter’s father informed law enforcement about the incident, per the incident report.

Teran was located with friends in Lexington County, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said in the incident report that the teen confessed to removing the toddler’s pants and taking nude photos, which he uploaded to the internet.
Teran said he posted the photos “only to gain the trust of the other pedophiles utilizing this application, in order to assist law enforcement with prosecuting these offenders,” according to the incident report.
Teran was arrested and taken to the Orangeburg-Calhoun Detention Center, deputies said in the incident report.
He was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to arrest warrants.
The sheriff’s office said no bond has been set for Teran, who faces up to 15 years in prison for just the criminal sexual conduct charge, according to the news release.
“This is just unfathomable to think anyone could take advantage of a small child such as this,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in the news release. “Many crimes are heinous in nature. But this is just beyond understanding.”
