EVERSON — A semi truck hauling a load of plywood struck and critically injured a 3-year-old boy around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, April 12, where Everson Road turns into Kale Street, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Everson boy was hit by a westbound semi when he ran across the street from his grandmother, who was standing south of Kale Street, toward his mother, who was standing on the other side, Trooper Mark Francis said.
He was taken to St. Joseph hospital with critical injuries, Francis said. As of 7:50 p.m., doctors were not sure if the boy would be transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
There were no indications the driver, Parminder Rangdhu, 44, of Abbotsford, B.C., was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Francis said. It was not expected any criminal charges would be filed.

The speed limit in that area is 35 mph. It will take a while for investigators to figure out the details of the accident, like how fast the truck was able to stop, Francis said.
