BELLINGHAM — One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on a residential stretch of Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5, according to police.
As of Sunday evening, police had not released the name or gender of the person killed while the next of kin were being notified.
It appeared one vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline near Brandywine Way and hit another car headed up the hill, Bellingham Police Sgt. Carr Lanham said.
The downhill car caught on fire, and witnesses were unable to help the driver out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames, Lanham said.
