A rollover crash on a highway north of Sedro-Woolley injured two men from Whatcom County early Saturday, July 9.
Andrey Grigorievich Kapustin, 24, of Maple Falls had been driving a white Ford F-150 pickup north on State Route 9, when the truck went straight instead of curving with the road around 2 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Ford crossed the center line and crashed into a ditch on the southbound side of the highway by Barrett Road, on the outskirts of Sedro-Woolley.
The totaled pickup came to a rest on its driver’s side.
A passenger, Ivan V. Demyanov, 28, of Maple Falls needed to be rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for emergency treatment.
Kapustin, who also suffered injuries in the crash, faces a charge of vehicular assault. He is suspected of driving while impaired, said Trooper Heather Axtman, a spokeswoman for the state patrol.
Kapustin was booked into Skagit County Jail on Saturday.
Axtman had no further details Saturday about why Kapustin is suspected of driving under the influence or about the injuries suffered by the two men.
