Ferndale man remains in ICU after motorcycle crash

A Ferndale man remained in intensive care on Monday, April 4, after being critically injured in a March 31 motorcycle crash.

Todd Allen Benson, 47, has been upgraded to serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a nurse supervisor. But he remained in the ICU.

Benson was riding a 1991 Honda CBR southbound on Interstate 5, about a mile south of Bow Hill Road, on Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle went into the median and struck a ditch. Benson, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the bike, according to Washington State Patrol.

He is suspected of being drunk when the crash happened; a driving under the influence charge is pending, according to Washington State Patrol.
