Point Roberts man arrested for bomb threat at U.S. Point of Entry

A 34-year-old Point Roberts man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of multiple felonies, including threats to bomb the U.S. Port of Entry at Point Roberts.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater said Point Roberts Customs called WCSO at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to report a man with an ax who allegedly broke the windows of a port building and government vehicle, and threatened to return and bomb the port of entry with his truck.

Slater said the man had returned to the port when deputies arrived. He was taken to the mainland by a WCSO Marine Unit and booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree malicious mischief, threats to bomb, first-degree burglary and three counts of felony threats. He is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond and has yet to be formally charged.
