The second of two men caught with nearly $46,000 worth of stolen bikes in November has been sentenced to five months in Whatcom County Jail.
Brett T. Stenevich, 28, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and first-degree possession of stolen property on Thursday, Jan. 8, according to documents filed in Whatcom County Superior Court. He was released the day of his sentencing and must set up jail alternatives before Feb. 6 or turn himself in.
Stenevich and Jerred E. Woods, who was sentenced to one year in prison last month, were found with a total of 10 stolen bikes on Nov. 5, 2014. Officers estimated the value of the Trek and Kona performance bikes to be $45,800.
The bikes were returned to their owners the same day, and both Stenevich and Woods must pay more than $3,000 each in restitution to Allstate Insurance. Stenevich has no prior convictions.
