Two men have been charged with trying to smuggle 29 kilograms of cocaine into British Columbia.
Victor Tyronne Peal, 39, of Bellingham, and Kyle Provo, 24, of Surrey, B.C., were arrested wearing camouflaged clothes and helmets Nov. 8, 2014, after they illegally crossed the border into Surrey, according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Canadian police said they recovered 29 kilograms, or about 64 pounds, of cocaine from the men. They were charged with importing and possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, the RCMP announced this week.
Peal has a history of driving offenses in Whatcom County — reckless driving, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license — but no record of drug crimes. He’s been convicted of two felonies elsewhere: aggravated robbery (August 1993) and burglary (June 2000).
