It’s not exactly what others in the country would call “blazing hot,” but area residents nevertheless enjoyed a nice warm summer weekend in Whatcom County with a high of 82 in Bellingham at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
Forecasters from the National Weather Service in Seattle said the lower summer temps to which locals have become accustomed this season may have ended last week.
However, “the last several summers – about the last four – have been hot, so it’s quite possible that people are thinking it’s been cooler this year,” said meteorologist Jay Albrecht.
This week will see highs in the mid- to upper 70s – Thursday and Friday are forecast to reach a high of 80 degrees – and lows in the upper 50s, according to accuweather.com.
