Repair work limits overnight runs on Lummi Island ferry

Lummi Island ferry service faces several overnight interruptions because of repairs to the lifting mechanisms at the Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island docks.

According to the Whatcom County Public Works Department, the Whatcom Chief ferry will not run from 10:20 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly from Sunday, Aug. 21, to Thursday, Aug. 25.

The 10 p.m. ferry from Lummi Island and the 10:10 p.m. run from Gooseberry Point on the mainland will be the last service each evening during that period. Normal service resumes each day with the 5:40 a.m. departure from Lummi Island and the 5:50 a.m. departure from Gooseberry Point.
