A portion of Cherry Street in the downtown area will be closed Aug. 5-7 for a basketball event that is raising money to fight childhood cancer.
The street will be closed between First Avenue and Second Avenue starting at noon Friday, Aug. 5. It will reopen at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, according to the city of Ferndale. The reason for the closure is the fourth annual Makayla’s Street Jam, which will have more than 100 teams participating in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
The parking lot for the Pioneer Pavilion will also be closed, so attendees are encouraged to use the parking lots next to the American Legion building and the Phillips66 Sports Complex on Second Avenue, said Riley Sweeney, spokesman for the city.
