A body found at Baker Lake on Friday afternoon, July 29, has been identified as the fisherman who went missing there earlier last month, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said.

Glen Richardson, 49, of Bellingham, left his campsite at the lake about 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13.

Crews searched for Richardson for the next four days using dogs and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter. They suspended the search on Monday, July 18.

About 1 p.m. on Friday, July 29, boaters called to report a body floating near the north end of the lake. The Sheriff’s Office could not confirm the body’s identity at the time, later identifying it as Richardson in a statement Monday morning.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The boat that Richardson was using has not been recovered.
