Bellingham was named a finalist in the category of Best Adventure Town as part of Sunset magazine’s 2016 Travel Awards, published in the August issue.

Winner in the Adventure Town category was Park City, Utah, which was cited for its mountain biking trails through aspen groves at an altitude of 8,000 feet – and for bobsledding and “extreme summer tubing” in the state’s Olympic Park.

Tofino, on Vancouver Island, won the Beach Town category.

Despite Bellingham’s vaunted plethora of craft brewers, the honor for Microbrewery or Distillery went to Green Flash in San Diego.
