Weather for Independence Day is looking better for holiday festivities, after an unsettled weekend that could bring showers Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasts call for partly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-60s on Monday, July 4. There’s still a 20 percent chance of showers Monday, however.

But it’s a different story for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday, July 2, will be mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday night through Sunday, July 3. Skies will begin clearing Sunday night as the chance of rain falls.

Highs will be in the mid- to upper 60s through the holiday, with light winds and overnight lows in the 50s.
