Whatcom County real estate agents had a strong April in terms of sales, suggesting that deals continue to take place despite low inventory.
Last month, agents sold 315 houses and condominium units in Whatcom County, up 9 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, according to data from Northwest Multiple Listing Service. It’s also the highest monthly total in seven months.
The median price for those houses and condos sold in April was $295,000, the highest monthly median price for Whatcom County ever reported by the listing service.
One factor is the lack of homes for sale — the service estimates the county has less than three months of available inventory. The service estimates the 23 Washington counties it serves has less than two months of available inventory.
The number of new residential units listed for sale last month totaled 493, slightly less than the previous April total of 506.
