Teen arrested on suspicion of arsons at Sedro-Woolley High School

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy who was suspected in two cases of arson at Sedro-Woolley High School.

Officers responded to the school about 7:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of damage to an outer wall and an outdoor soda machine that appeared to have been caused by fire, according to Sedro-Woolley Police Chief Lin Tucker.

The damage was similar to that caused by a suspicious fire set outside the school April 19, which left minor smoke stains on the school building and damaged a city garbage receptacle, Tucker said.

Police and school staff used surveillance video to identify the 13-year-old boy as a suspect in both incidents.

The boy was booked into Skagit County Juvenile Detention on suspicion of arson, burglary and theft, Tucker said.
