Salmon bacon sold in Washington recalled over botulism fear
Native Catch salmon bacon, which some people purchase as holiday gifts, is being recalled over a fear of botulism.
The traditional and peppered flavors produced by Swinomish Fish Company with a “best by” date of Jan. 23, 2016, and March 16, 2016, could be contaminated with a bacteria that could cause illness or death, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Consumers should not eat the salmon bacon even if it doesn’t appear to be spoiled, warns the FDA.
The salmon bacon was sold in Washington. Check the recall notice at www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/. Consumers can contact the Swinomish Fish Company at 360-466-0176 weekdays for a replacement or full refund or if they have questions.
