Gas prices hit $5 in Whatcom County; this local station has the lowest prices
Gas prices increased by more than $1 in Bellingham, Whatcom County and Washington this month in comparison to The Herald’s March survey, and we found the cheapest local gas station for you.
The average price of a gallon of gas across the United States was $4.14 Tuesday, April 7, according to AAA — 73 cents up from last month. Last year, the nation’s average was $3.25.
Here’s the local breakdown:
Washington
Washington’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $5.39 — an 82-cent increase compared to March’s average. Last April, gas averaged $4.39 a gallon in Washington, according to AAA.
Washington has the third-highest gas prices in the country, following California at $5.93 a gallon and Hawaii at $5.60, according to AAA. Washington has now had the third-highest gas prices in the U.S. for six consecutive months.
Whatcom County and Bellingham
Whatcom County’s average cost of gas is $5.31 a gallon, a $1.04 increase compared to March.
On Tuesday, April 7, Bellingham’s average price for a gallon of gas was $5.32, according to AAA, a $1.04 increase compared to March.
County’s cheapest gas

Last month, gas prices in Bellingham, Whatcom County and Washington also increased month-to-month.
