People can learn about common garden problems and solutions that are friendly to the environment during a free workshop Sunday, June 7, at Hovander Homestead Park.
The event begins at 2 p.m. at Tennant Lake Interpretive Center off Nielsen Avenue in Ferndale.
People will learn the basics of vegetable and plant diseases during the workshop, which will focus on identifying and preventing common garden scourges.
It is among the workshops put on by the Master Gardener Program.

Getting there: Take I-5 north from Bellingham to exit 262 (Main Street/City Center). Turn right and head west on Main Street until Hovander Road, then turn left. Proceed to Nielsen Avenue, turn right, then follow the road to where it empties into the parking lot for the Interpretive Center.
