Parents can have their children’s car safety seats checked during a free Safe Kids Northwest program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Bellingham Fire Department Station 1, 1800 Broadway.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will examine infant, child and booster seats. Safe Kids estimates that some 80 percent of safety seats are installed improperly.
No appointment is necessary; the seat checks take about 30 minutes. Bring your car seat and the child who rides in it, if possible.
Enter the fire station from the building’s south entrance, toward the rear. You’ll drive into the station’s apparatus bay.
