Bellingham Walmart reopens after power outage

The Walmart store at 4420 Meridian St. has reopened after being closed for several hours Wednesday, April 22, because an equipment problem knocked out power to the store.

Store workers spent part of their day turning vehicles away, telling would-be shoppers that they hoped to open the store by 6 p.m. It opened in mid-afternoon.

Puget Sound Energy crews were on scene much of the day after the power went out, which was sometime around 6:30 a.m.

That Walmart is normally open 24 hours. Other nearby businesses had brief outages but remained open.
