YMCA to offer child care in Bellingham during teacher protest Friday

The Whatcom Family YMCA will have four locations open for child care Friday, April 24, during a teacher walkout that will cancel school in Bellingham, Blaine and Ferndale school districts.

Child care will be available for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade at the downtown Bellingham YMCA and at Cordata, Sunnyland and Roosevelt elementary schools from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, said Melinda Yost, YMCA director of family enrichment.

Parents must register their kids before Friday. The child care costs $40 a day if the child is a member of the YMCA, or $45 a day if the child is not a member.

Parents can register their child by visiting the downtown Bellingham YMCA, 1256 N. State St., or by calling 360-733-8630.
