Art and its ties to women’s issues discussed in Bellingham Saturday

Art and its ties to the early women’s movement and women’s issues will be the focus of a Saturday, April 18, presentation by the League of Women Voters.

“Out of the Drawing Room: Into the Intersection of Art and Women’s Rights” is an interpretive slide show by Diane Martindale, president of the LWV of San Juan Islands and a member of the Washington State Arts Commission.

Some 40 artists’ work will be part of the presentation including Georgia O’Keeffe, Mary Cassatt, Dorthea Lange, Norman Rockwell, Guerrilla Girls, Maya Lin, Margaret Bourke-White and Judy Chicago.

The free event is 6 to 8 p.m. in the Rotunda Room of the Old City Hall building, 121 Prospect St. Light refreshments will be served.
