Bellingham breaks rain record, ties heat one

The recent warm, rainy weather broke one record and tied another.

The heavy rain on Wednesday totaled 1.15 inches, breaking the old March 25 rainfall record of 0.73 inch, according to the National Weather Service.

Then on Thursday the temperature hit 65 degrees, tying the record high for March 26, last reached in 1994. That’s about 10 degrees higher than the normal high this time of year.

Weather records date back to 1949. The official temperature and rainfall are recorded at Bellingham International Airport.
