Two weeks of traffic delays coming at Deception Pass bridges

Drivers should expect two weeks of daytime delays on Highway 20 at Deception Pass starting Monday, March 30, while Washington State Department of Transportation crews clean and inspect the bridges.

Drivers should expect delays up to 20 minutes as traffic is restricted to alternating single lanes at both the Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges.

Crews will be at work from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday through Thursday between March 30 and April 10. Work will wrap up by noon each Friday, and no work will take place during the weekend. During working hours, drivers will not be allowed to park on Pass Island, between the two bridges.

Contractors working for WSDOT also will inspect the asphalt on the bridge decks, in preparation for this summer's Highway 20 repaving project. That repaving work will take place between July and September and require up to five overnight closures of the Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges.
