The cost to register rental units in Bellingham will range from $8 to $10 per unit each year.
As part of the city’s recently approved rental registration and inspection program, landlords will have until Aug. 1 to register their rental units with the city. Information on how to register will be sent to owners starting in May, and also will be posted on the city website at cob.org/rentals.
The annual cost to register is $10 per unit for those who own one to 20 units, and $8 per unit for those who own 21 or more units, as approved by City Council during its regular Monday night meeting, March 23.
Late fees can be assessed on those who don’t register. If registration is one to 60 days late, the late fee will range from $50 to $250, depending on how many units that owner has. If registration is more than two months late, the fine may be more.
