The Whatcom County Disposal of Toxics Program will be temporarily closed for one day during the week of March 15 to pave the parking lot.
The exact closure date isn’t yet known because it will depend on the weather.
Anyone planning to visit the facility at 3505 Airport Drive during the week should call 360-380-4640 in advance to check on the status.
The Disposal of Toxics Program accepts hazardous wastes such as paints and cleaners from household sources as well as from qualifying small businesses and organizations. It’s usually open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and the same hours the first Saturday of each month.
The program is currently operated by Stericycle Environmental Solutions, a hazardous waste management company, under contract to Whatcom County.
