The warmer weather seems to have translated into more home sales for Whatcom County real estate agents.
Last month 196 houses and condominiums sold in Whatcom County, a 29.8 percent increase compared to February 2014, according to data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. It’s also a significant increase compared to January, when 165 houses and condos sold.
February is typically one of the slower months of the year in terms of home sales, with the peak months usually in the spring and summer.
Inventory also appears to be picking up sooner than usual. Last month 309 new houses and condos were listed locally, up 14.9 percent compared to a year earlier.
Across the 23 counties covered by the NWMLS, 4,761 houses and condos sold last month, a 13.5 percent increase compared to February 2014. The median price for those homes sold was $280,000, a 6.5 percent increase.
