Bellingham will hold open house about work on Alabama Street

Safety improvements for Alabama Street scheduled for this summer will create delays, detours and dust. The public can learn about the expected impacts of the roadwork at an open house, 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Roosevelt Elementary School, 2900 Yew St.

Construction, likely to run from May through September, includes road widening, new crosswalks and fresh pavement. Lanes on Alabama Street and sidewalks will be closed occasionally, and delays can be expected.

The project, funded by a $1.5 million federal grant, extends from Cornwall Avenue to St. Clair Street.

Request regular construction updates at the open house or by emailing pw@cob.org and writing “Alabama corridor construction updates” in the subject line.

The project also will be updated online at cob.org. Enter “ Alabama corridor” in the search box.
