Whatcom auditor Adelstein announces re-election bid

Whatcom County’s auditor will run for re-election.

Auditor Debbie Adelstein said in an announcement sent Wednesday, Feb. 25, that she will seek a second term. The auditor oversees elections for the county, document recording and licensing.

Adelstein won the seat in 2011 after her mentor, Shirley Forslof, retired. Adelstein was Forslof’s chief deputy auditor for the last six of the former auditor’s 24 years in office.

The incumbent has filed for the election with the state Public Disclosure Commission, which reports that Adelstein has $6,910 in her campaign fund, including a $5,500 loan and $1,410 in contributions.

The only other candidates for county office who have filed with the state for the 2015 elections are incumbents: Executive Jack Louws and Sheriff Bill Elfo. Neither have announced their campaigns.
