Bellingham woman hurt in Skagit County crash

A Bellingham woman was injured, apparently seriously, in a single-car crash on Old Highway 99 in Skagit County.

Emma C. Chabal, 22, of Bellingham, was northbound on Old Highway 99 near Drifitin Lane about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, when she failed to negotiate a curve and slammed into two trees on the right side of the roadway, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

Chabal was transported by ambulance first to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon and then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The extent of her injuries was unknown.

Her car, a 1998 Toyota Avalon, was destroyed. It was unknown if she was wearing a seat belt.
