New car, truck sales in Whatcom County up 3.1 percent in 2014

Whatcom County auto dealers sold more new vehicles in 2014 than the previous year.

Last year 4,136 new cars and trucks were sold by local dealerships, a 3.1 percent increase compared to 2013, according to data from the Dominion Cross-Sell Report. The company tracks the sales through the Washington State Department of Licensing. In 2012, local dealers sold 3,657 vehicles.

Wilson Motors, which includes Toyota and Mercedes-Benz models, sold the most new vehicles in Whatcom County last year with 751, according to the report.

Following Wilson Motors for highest sales was Dewey Griffin Subaru, Rairdon’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Bellingham and Northwest Honda.
