The number of passengers flying out of Bellingham International Airport decreased in 2014.

According to data compiled by the Port of Bellingham, 537,961 people booked flights out of Bellingham last year, down 9.6 percent compared to 2013.

One factor in the drop in airport traffic was the decrease in flights, particularly from Allegiant Air. The airline ended its flights to Hawaii in May 2014 and its flights to Reno in January 2014.

Here's a look at the inidivdual carriers:

-- Allegiant had 285,967 passengers fly out of Bellingham last year, down 13.6 percent from 2013.

-- Alaska Airlines’ passenger total between 2013 and 2014 decreased 3.6 percent, to 244,503.

-- Frontier, with its seasonal flights between Bellingham and Denver, had 7,491 passengers, down 29.1 percent compared to 2013.
