A gathering has been organized for Sunday, Jan. 11, in the Fairhaven Village Green to support the people of France, who are reeling from a suspected terror attack this week in which 12 people were killed at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newspaper.
The newspaper was targeted because of its satirical depictions of Islam.
Bellingham resident Megan Taylor is organizing the unity gathering, which is 3 to 4 p.m. at 1207 10th St.
On Sept. 11, 2001, the French people were among the first to gather and say, in solidarity with the U.S., “We are all Americans,” she said.
Those at the Bellingham gathering will now do the same in their support of France, where President Francois Hollande will lead a unity rally in Paris on Sunday.
