Ferndale woman wins fireplace on ‘The Price Is Right’

Ferndale resident Debbie Gwaltney won an electric fireplace on an episode of “The Price Is Right” that aired Friday morning, Jan. 9.

Gwaltney made it onto the stage with a bid of $1,501 for the fireplace, one dollar higher than the next highest bid.

She then played a game of “Switch,” where she had to guess whether the retail prices of a pool table and new kayaks were correct or if they were swapped. She wrongly guessed they were correct.

At the Big Wheel, she thanked her family and friends and shouted, “I made it guys, I made it!” She was well short of $1 in her two spins and did not move on to the Showcase Showdown.

Gwaltney said she’s excited to put the fireplace in her Seattle Seahawks-themed home, and was thrilled to get on stage.

I wanted to go down there and just have a fun time, and I had a great time,” Gwaltney said.
