Volunteers sought for cleanup at Bellingham’s Locust Beach

Volunteers are needed to clean up Locust Beach on Saturday morning, Jan. 3.

Crews will be asked to pick up trash left by beach goers and debris deposited by recent winter storms.

Work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. Children are welcome. Dress for the weather, wear rubber boots, and bring a water bottle. Equipment, gloves and refreshments will be provided.

The trailhead to the beach is located at the western terminus of Locust Avenue. Carpooling, bicycling and public transportation are encouraged. Parking will be allowed at the Bellingham Kite Board Center on Locust Avenue.

The cleanup is organized by RE Sources for Sustainable Communities North Sound Baykeeper Team, the Northwest Straits Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, and the Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee.
