PSE customers in Whatcom County can expect an average credit of about $40 on their December or January bill.
The one-time credit is the benefit customers receive from PSE selling its assets in Jefferson County in 2010.
The total amount paid to PSE customers will be $59.2 million. More than 1.1 million customers in eight counties will benefit, according to PSE.
Customers do not need to request the credit. It will automatically appear on bills. Some customers will see it on their December bill and others on the January one, depending on their billing cycle. The credit will be based on electricity use in December, according to PSE.

PSE asked for and received Utilities and Transportation Commission approval to distribute the credit in winter when bills are typically higher due to colder weather and shorter daylight hours.
