Another retail center proposed near new Bellingham Costco

Another retail development is planned for the Bakerview-Interstate 5 area, and the public is invited to a meeting to learn about it.

The developer, PMF Investments, is calling the 59,000-square-foot project “Bellingham Retail Center East,” at 1240 W. Bakerview Road, immediately east of the planned Costco site. More information will be provided at a meeting at 6 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Hampton Inn Bellingham Airport, 3985 Bennett Drive.

The retail center would have four buildings on 6.2 acres. The main entrance to the development would be on the yet-to-be-built Arctic Avenue, which would also be the entrance to a new, 160,000-square-foot Costco.

PMF Investments already has submitted permit applications for the Bellingham Retail Center, a 142,000-square-foot development directly west of the Costco site.

The meeting notice for the eastern retail center said street improvements to handle the additional traffic would be coordinated with other nearby development proposals.
