Visitors to state parks will not be required to display a Discover Pass on Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announced.
In Whatcom County that means no pass is required at Larrabee, Birch Bay and Peace Arch state parks.
The last “free day” of 2014 is in keeping with legislation that created the Discover Pass, a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit required on state recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources.
The Discover Pass is still required to access DFW and DNR lands on State Parks free days.
The free day does not apply to camping or other overnight accommodations.
