Wind advisory until 5 p.m. Tuesday across western Whactom County

The wind arrived a little later than forecasters expected, but Whatcom County residents can expect it to continue Tuesday, Oct. 28, with gusts possibly reaching 50 mph.

Winds had been expected to pick up about 11 p.m. Monday, but they didn’t really kick in until after 3 a.m. Tuesday. Gusts peaked at 32 mph in the early morning.

A wind advisory from the National Weather Service remains in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday, with steady south winds 20 to 30 mph. Strong winds are expected in much of the county including Bellingham, Blaine and Lynden.
