The Fairhaven Pub closed after owners evicted

It turns out The Fairhaven pub closed for a different reason than originally stated on Facebook.

The owners of the pub, Peter and Vickie Lo Grande, were evicted from the space at 1114 Harris Ave. last month for failure to pay rent, according to an eviction notice and court documents.

It was originally stated on The Fairhaven pub Facebook page and reported in The Bellingham Herald that mold was the reason for the closure, but building owner Phyllis McKee said that mold never came up in conversation and that she is not aware of any mold in the building. The pub’s Facebook page was recently taken down.

The court case for breach of lease was filed in Whatcom County Superior Court by McKee’s company, Finnegan’s Alley LLC.

Attempts to reach Peter or Vickie Lo Grande for comment were unsuccessful.
