Strong northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, are expected to hit the coastal areas of Whatcom County starting early Friday, Oct. 17.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for areas including Point Roberts and Cherry Point. It’s in effect from 5 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. Other coastal areas also should expect strong winds.
With leaves still on a lot of trees, people can expect branches to snap and some trees may topple, causing power outages if they hit lines.
